- Randy,
- I am a sysop of the Casino Royale BBS, Inc. We have been running
- on Amiga C-Net since April, 1991, and when we started, we were using 2
- internal Supra zi modems. The rest of our system (as it is now) is:
- Amiga 2500/020, and Trumpcard Pro.
-
- We had the same problems as you describe, and we were ok (even
- though there was a noticible slowdown (especially when users were uploading
- to the supra modems). This really caused no problems until we
- purchased a USRobotics 14.4K Dual STD and started using it via the
- Amiga's serial port. This caused all sorts of problems, espically uploads to
- the DUAL.
-
- When another user was on the Supra internals, it caused all sorts
- of errors to occur on the Dual line. When the Supras were idle, there
- was no problem. But even as much as a PHONE RING on the supras would
- cause errors on the dual line.
-
- So we purchased a C=2232 multiserial card, and installed the
- USR modem on it and this resolved the errors, but not the slowdown
- when people were using the supra modems. Since then, we have gotten
- rid of the internal modems, and have put up externals on the 2232 card.
- Now, there are no slowdowns or anything of the like.
-
- I highly recommend you get rid of the internal modems. The
- people at Supra were nice enough to exchange one of our internal modems
- for the external model, since the internal was still under warranty.
- Hopefully your serial card has enough ports so that you can do this.
