-
- I'd say there are four kinds of monitors usable for the A1200:
-
- A) TV sets and video monitors (15 kHz)
- B) VGA only monitors (31 kHz)
- C) SuperVGA monitors (30-40 kHz)
- D) The Really Flexible Ones (15-40 kHz)
-
- Prices typically range top-down with type A) being the cheapest and type D)
- the most expensive.
-
- Clearly, type D) is the best since it can display every display mode your
- Amiga can produce. If you can't, however, afford a type D) monitor, you must
- consider what kind of work you do mostly and what kind of software you are
- willing to 'sacrifice'.
-
- Many games and other entertainment packages boot up in 15kHz PAL or NTSC
- mode and can't be promoted to use 31kHz or higher frequencies. Therefore, you
- won't be able to display such software on type B) and C) monitors.
- On the other hand, type A) devices typically can't handle high resolutions
- very well, and are thus less suited for productivity software such as word
- processing and desktop publishing.

-
- I have posted a list of 60 different type D) monitors here in c.s.a.hardware.
- I'll repost it within a few days.
-
- Hope this helps!
