  12. This is the third time I've downloaded the Rend24 archive in the hopes of
  13. getting it to work at all.  This time, I grabbed version 1.05, which is
  14. apparently the latest (and according to the documentation, probably the
  15. last).  As usual, I copied the support files to where they belonged -- i.e.,
  16. copied the libraries to my libs: directory.

  18. I can't make the damned program do anything useful.  Supposedly you can use
  19. it to view ILBM, GIF, and JPEG.  I can't do anything of the sort with
  20. Rend24.  The cycle gadgets often don't respond to mouse button clicks --
  21. they must be clicked on repeatedly.  No error messages ever occur to tell
  22. me what (if anything) I'm doing wrong.  There are no status readouts to tell
  23. me if the program is doing anything whatsoever except sitting there.
  24. Yes, I know that Rend24 is intended for the conversion of a series of images
  25. into an animation.  But the author makes claims which, as far as I can tell,
  26. are entirely false -- claims that Rend24 can view and/or convert single
  27. frames.

  29. How can someone release a program as shareware without doing the basic
  30. tests to insure that it runs on at least a good subset of the Amiga
  31. computers.  I can't believe that AmigaWorld's shareware reviewer gave this
  32. program rave reviews.  Makes me wonder whether they do anything except read
  33. the docs.

  35. If the author of Rend24 is stopping development for lack of shareware support
  36. (which seems to be the case), perhaps the reason why people are not
  37. registering is because the program fails on many platforms.  I know I'm not
  38. the only person with this complaint.

  40. If someone can tell me the magic secret of getting Rend24 to operate
  41. correctly in any of its incarnations, let me know.
