- This is the third time I've downloaded the Rend24 archive in the hopes of
- getting it to work at all. This time, I grabbed version 1.05, which is
- apparently the latest (and according to the documentation, probably the
- last). As usual, I copied the support files to where they belonged -- i.e.,
- copied the libraries to my libs: directory.
-
- I can't make the damned program do anything useful. Supposedly you can use
- it to view ILBM, GIF, and JPEG. I can't do anything of the sort with
- Rend24. The cycle gadgets often don't respond to mouse button clicks --
- they must be clicked on repeatedly. No error messages ever occur to tell
- me what (if anything) I'm doing wrong. There are no status readouts to tell
- me if the program is doing anything whatsoever except sitting there.
- Yes, I know that Rend24 is intended for the conversion of a series of images
- into an animation. But the author makes claims which, as far as I can tell,
- are entirely false -- claims that Rend24 can view and/or convert single
- frames.
-
- How can someone release a program as shareware without doing the basic
- tests to insure that it runs on at least a good subset of the Amiga
- computers. I can't believe that AmigaWorld's shareware reviewer gave this
- program rave reviews. Makes me wonder whether they do anything except read
- the docs.
-
- If the author of Rend24 is stopping development for lack of shareware support
- (which seems to be the case), perhaps the reason why people are not
- registering is because the program fails on many platforms. I know I'm not
- the only person with this complaint.
-
- If someone can tell me the magic secret of getting Rend24 to operate
- correctly in any of its incarnations, let me know.
