Not too wrong:
You are restricted to only one type of refresh rate for video production: NTSC (or PAL for the rest of the western world, excepting SECAM countries)
That is a fixed standard: there is no way in hell to display more than the 480
lines that NTSC gives you. So the amiga, maximizes horizontal resolutions in
these modes (35ns?) as much as possible. Sure, it would be nice to have an
800X600 screen mode with a high refresh rate; it just wouldn't matter as far as video is concerned. The most C= can do for video is up horizontal res (17.5 ns next stop) and color (24 bit also next stop)
