- <Sigh> I feel so sorry for you... Are you seriously telling me that WC on
- the 1200 is going to be slow? Remember this a a 32 bit data bus machine
- we're talking about here... And WCII and Underworld etc are already under
- development and due to be released this year. Although Origin isn't
- involved in writing the games, they are going to be ported over, and for
- once, the game developers are listening to the users (qv the new version
- of WC just released).
-
- I think that the 1200 should be considered the de facto base machine from
- now as it is so incredibly popular in Europe and also so comparatively
- cheap as well. Back in the days I bought my 500, it cost more than the
- 1200 costs nowadays! It is a fine entry level machine and I am sure is
- fully capable to pushing gfx out as fast as any 486 you could throw at it.
- It will run 4-5 times faster than the 500 and in addition the graphics
- routines are in general 2x faster than 2.x machines. That makes it's gfx
- routines around 10 times faster than a stock Amiga, which can already
- scroll better than lots of 386s.
-
- Plus you get a multitasking environment (something I could _never_ live
- without, so the bloody PCs are no use to me.
-
- You got out too early my friend, perhaps you should think about selling
- your PC and buying a 1200, or if you can afford a Local bus 486 (32bit
- data buses) and gfx accelerator and 8 mb of 32 bit wide ram (as well as a
- $85 SB of course :), maybe you
- will be better off spending that kinda money on a far superior (even in
- terms of processing power) A4000?

- the AGA machines, the low end chipset and the highend chipset... not to
- mention RISC Amigas hahahahahaha.
