- Well, Psygnosis is absolutely not going out of the Amiga market. Don't
- start any untrue rumors here. In terms of Wing commander. I would find it
- very hard for anyone with an IBM not to be surprised with the amiga version
- of Wingcommander. Please check your version. If, while in flight, you hit
- the F10 key and you see the words 3D themselves into view:
- -- Wing Commander Ver. A6.81E --
- and you have a 2.0 operating system or higher, then you can truly say it.
- The game was not only improved, but the game running on a machine with
- graphics.library >= 37.000 looks Very close to the original version. Sure, you
- may tell a little, but on the most part, enough to be the same that you don't
- shades lost don't even appear in important places. The original VGA version
- didn't even use many on screen colors over the 32 color pallette. All the
- things I've heard about it as in complaints in graphics, either must of been
- fixed or didn't show up in mine. No problems saving, no problems with the
- graphics of the people talking, no problems with the fact that this version
- works on all amigas, all chipsets, all processors, no problems with run-on
- sentences. No problems with added features, no problems with having only 512K
- of chip ram and running it from my 16 color workbench. No problems with heated
- dogfights. No wierd protection schemes. In fact, I see the effects of people
- who listened to our reply on what future games for the amiga should be like.
- They did everything that we asked for. They even developed an algorythym that
- will upgrade the graphics according to your Operating system without having to
- make more than one graphic file for each graphics. No ship1.ECS ship1.STD
- ship1.AGA. See, commodore wasn't so dumb when they chose their schemes on color
- bitplanes.
- These guys went to the edge of the tree limbs to bring a product out this
- good, they deserve the best in my opinion. May their sales of Ultima Underworld
- , Ultima 7, and Wing commander 2 Amiga bring them much dough.
-
- --- Hope this helps to those who thought I was joking..

- P.S. -- IMHO, I had to be impressed, this game shows that these people know
- how to kick butt in an O.S. friendly environment. Extra kudos for the fact,
- I don't have to reboot to load it or exit the game. I can simply run Wing
- Commander anytime I just feel like it. Warning, this game does not like
- screen blankers, especially machine languaged hacked ones. They advise you to
- turn those off when you start the program. If you have an earlier version of
- this game, you might want to contact Mindscape and see about getting your
- version upgraded.
- I do have 3 megs of total ram, but it should run just as well on a machine
- with at least 1.5 megs of total ram(Harddrive users) or just 1 meg(Floppy
- users). The speed is acceptable to me,playable at least, on an unnacclerated
- machine. Definitely keeps me off the 16Mhz 386 pc systems. Lucky you to the
- people who have any accelerator, for it should be enough to really kick up the
- frame rate.
