- >I'd just like to point out that DR2D is not a Commodore format...."
- DR2D is as much of a standard IFF format as IFF-ILBM. Developed by Stylus, it
- is available to any developer, it was developed with input from other
- developers, and it is worthy of support. Commodore has used it as an example
- of how to create an IFF standard for the Amiga. It's to the benefit of the
- users for developers to support IFF standards. IFF standards are one of the
- strengths of the Amiga environment. As to why New Horizons chose to go with
- their own format rather than support the standard, or why Gold Disk insists on
- their own proprietary format, that's up to those companies. Other companies
- are supporting DR2D, and the more that do, the better for the Amiga.
-
- It would also be good for the Amiga if some of the word processor companies
- began to support DR2D for importing structured graphics into documents, in
- addition to the now common support for IFF-ILBM for bitmapped graphics.
-
- Cooperation among Amiga developers is to be encouraged. The real competition
- is from other platforms.
