- I was hoping I wouldn't have to ask this question, but frustration
- is mounting...
-
- I'm running Sys V Ver 3.0 on my PC 7300 (I have no choice) and I've
- installed 4 gettys in inittab to provide me with four selectable
- login windows. I'd hate to test the theory, but I've discovered
- that I'm without fail LOGIN, not lucio, to logname(1) whichever
- window I happen to select (I'm lying of course, I'm almost certain
- that there is one window which acknowledges the superiority of lucio
- over LOGIN, but the system hasn't yet disclosed the criteria used in
- its choice :-). This kind of throws many programs that rely on
- logname(1) to establish my identity. 'Sfar as I know, I'm lucio if
- I log in on a serial port, so I guess login(1) is broken, probably
- in writing /etc/wtmp.
-
- The BIG question: can I fix it without upgrading to 3.51, and if
- so, how?
-
- Thanks.
