  11. I was hoping I wouldn't have to ask this question, but frustration
  12. is mounting...

  14. I'm running Sys V Ver 3.0 on my PC 7300 (I have no choice) and I've
  15. installed 4 gettys in inittab to provide me with four selectable
  16. login windows.  I'd hate to test the theory, but I've discovered
  17. that I'm without fail LOGIN, not lucio, to logname(1) whichever
  18. window I happen to select (I'm lying of course, I'm almost certain
  19. that there is one window which acknowledges the superiority of lucio
  20. over LOGIN, but the system hasn't yet disclosed the criteria used in
  21. its choice :-). This kind of throws many programs that rely on
  22. logname(1) to establish my identity.  'Sfar as I know, I'm lucio if
  23. I log in on a serial port, so I guess login(1) is broken, probably
  24. in writing /etc/wtmp.

  26. The BIG question: can I fix it without upgrading to 3.51, and if
  27. so, how?
