- I've posted to this newsgroup a few times but have yet to receive any
- replies. I suppose I'm posting this article just fo the sake of it.
- Naturally, my problem has to do with Khoros, which is a very nice system
- for the front-end user but not for the deep-end programmer/installer.
-
- Okay here goes. I've installed khoros and parts of it (all the vroutines)
- work. The other parts (xvroutines, and therefore the bulk of Khoros) which
- use X libraries fall over hideously. Progress so far, I can compile the
- the xvroutines, xprism2, cantata, conductor, etc but cannot run them
- (segmentation fault, core dump). Now, I compile for example, a very simple
- xvroutine such as <xvviewer> (display an ascii file) with
- CDEBUGFLAG=-g so that I can debug the produced object file. Unfortunately,
- when I try to run "dbx", I get
-
- Reading ### symbols
- Segmentation fault
-
- How I can I start debugging a simple xvroutine (or are there even simpler
- xvroutines), when the debugging tool I want to use fails? If I can't
- trace the step by step execution of a routine then I can't diagnose the
- location of the bug.
-
- So what do you others out there suggest? Even if it's the smallest of
- help, please tell me. If you can refer me to someone please tell me. I
- would like to believe that some communication/community help does take
- place here and that it's not just one person broadcasting to many.
-
-
-
- I've seen many other postings from others experiencing problems with the
- installation of Khoros, which is a big piece of software; and judging by
- the number, I suggest creating a newsgroup just for Khoros installation
- or at least a dedicated FAQ.

- solutions on this group, severely exhausted!)
