- Hi,
-
- I got one Quantum ProDrive 170S but could not make it work. Here is what I
- tried.
-
- 1. Install it as SCSI ID:1 and use it as a second drive. If I run the adaptec
- 1542A on-board BIOS utility with debug G=DC00:6, the dirve has been recognized
- as SCSI ID:1 LUN:0. If I select verify or format command, I get a error message
-
- SCSI Mode Selection Command Error Code 0206
-
- If I install aspi4dos.sys with /D option, the drive is also recognized and
- the info is displayed on the screen. But DOS FDISK does not see the second
- harddisk.
-
- If I boot linux and do "fdisk /dev/sdb", I get the following error message:
-
- Dumping sense buffer: 1 1 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 10 0 0,
- SCSI disk error: host 0 id 1 lun 0
- return code=18000000
- Sense class 7, sense error 0, extended sense 2
- SCSI I/O error
- dev 0810 sector 0
- Unable to read /dev/sdb
-
- 2. Install the drive as the only one in the SCSI chain and boot from floppy.
- The adaptec BIOS checks the disk for quite a while and (seems) give up.
- After booting, I run DOS FDISK and it tells me no harddisk is installed.
-
- I am sure that I installed terminators, SCSI IDs, and Parity Enable correctly
- in both cases.
-
- Any ideas ?
-
- Thanks.
