  14. I'm pretty sure that I want to set all my users mail profiles to have
  15. auto_purge set on. Mostly students as users, but everyone is eating up
  16. disk/quota with deleted mail messages and few people set it on for
  17. themselves.

  19. But is seems that MAIL will only let system users modify forwarding
  20. addresses (for VMS 5.4-2). And not modify any other options.

  22. Thanks to Bob Marshall for sending me a copy of MAILUAF.COM for
  23. modifying the profile data. But that procedure doesn't seem to know
  24. about the auto_purge flag.

  28. 1. Does anyone have a small procedure for doing exactly what i want ?
  29.    To turn on auto_purge for any or all users listed in the mail
  30.    profile.

  32. 2. What are the flag settings ?
  33.    I'll try hacking up MAILUAF.COM into something that can do the job
  34.    for me (i can do DCL programming) but what are the bit settings
  35.    inside that flag variable that controls the auto_purge setting.

  37. 3. How does one get listed in the mail profile ?
  38.    I'll want to set auto_purge to on for any new users that i add from
  39.    now on, and so will use that small procedure (see 1 & 2 above) for
  40.    the setting from inside my add_user procedure.
  41.    But i've looked at the existing mail profile data file and see that
  42.    not all users have a mail profile record.
  43.    Do you not get a record until you have mail ?
  44.      If thats true then my add_user could send mail to the new user then
  45.      make the setting for auto_purge right away.
  46.    But some users who have logged on don't have a record. Is it bacause
  47.    they don't have any mail ?
  48.      This seems to be true for anyone who has set forwarding to a
  49.      different system.
