- Under v5.1, it means that BACKUP couldn't open a file. Since error messages
- sometimes change across versions of VMS, you might want to check on your
- system:
- $ SET MESSAGE SYS$MESSAGE:SYSMGTMSG
- $ WRITE SYS$OUTPUT F$MESSAGE(%X10A3800A)
- %BACKUP-E-OPENIN, error opening !AS as input

- Now, BACKUP probably gave you more detailed messages as it was executing (for
- example, one common reason for this message is that you didn't specify
- /IGNORE=INTERLOCK, and someone had a file open for write when BACKUP tried to
- open it).
