  15. A more basic solution would be to stop the count getting  wrong in the
  16. first place.   I believe this is because the mail count is stored in a
  17. different place ( SYS$SYSTEM:VMSMAIL_PROFILE.DATA) from the messages
  18. themselves (MAIL.MAI).

  20. I have thought it useful to have two users with the same SYS$LOGIN
  21. directory - for example a less privileged account for dial in use 
  22. so you can read your mail but not do anything that needs CMKRNL!
  23. ; they share the same MAIL.MAI but different VMSMAIL_PROFILE
  24. entries.  This does wonders for ones new mail counts ;-)
