  15. uVAX II (plase, don't laugh) displaying on a VAXStation (via DECNET).

  17. Problem: usign DECWindows MAIL I composed a message and tried to send it out
  18. (with a copy to myself). What I saw in the Message window was:

  20. Sending mail...
  21. Message sent to user ... at ....
  22. Error sending to user PAWLAK.
  23. Error writing DUA1:[PAWLAK.MAIL]MAIL.MAI;1.
  24. Duplicate key detected (DUP not set).
  25. Send completed with errors.

  27. There is no Facility/Ident in these messages, but the text sounds like 
  28. RMS DUP message (Duplicate key in indexed file and no DUPLICATES ALLOWED
  29. attribute set). The questions is how does MAIL construct the key then? I
  30. tried to send the message again (to myself only), changing the Subject
  31. field - nothing, I still can't put this one specific message into my
  32. MAIL.MAI. So it seems that neither send time nor header contents have
  33. anything to do with it. I checked that I can send myself other messages
  34. and that others can send messages to me - so the MAIL.MAI file structure
  35. seems OK. Any ideas how to get the message stored in my mail file?

  37. And, when I'm already at this: in the above configuration I sometimes
  38. experience veeery long delays when writing message in the MAIL create
  39. window (by very long I mean up to 10 minutes). Watching the process
  40. shows that it is CPU bound during that time and does only very little
  41. I/O or paging. This feature forces me often to change editor when
  42. composing longer messages. Maybe somebody knows what is my uVAX so
  43. busily computing? Not that it's very important (DECWindows EVE uses
  44. CPU as and editor should, and I can always switch to it) - call it 
  45. curiosity...
