  23.                            WORDPERFECT 5.2 FOR OS/2

  25. OREM, Utah, January 18, 1993 WordPerfect Corporation today announced the
  26. development of WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 2.0, the first graphical version of WordPerfect
  27. for OS/2. The product is being jointly developed with Micrografx using Mirrors
  28. technology and is similar to the recently released WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows.
  29. WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 is scheduled to ship this spring.

  31.       Support from the industrys leading word processing software developer is a clear
  32. indication of the markets support and acceptance of OS/2, said Lee Reiswig, president of
  33. IBMs Personal Software Products division. WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 will satisfy
  34. customers needs for a graphical word processor that will take advantage of OS/2's advanced
  35. technology.

  37.       The file format of WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 is identical to that of WordPerfect 5.1
  38. for DOS and WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows so files are compatible across platforms.
  39. WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 will also be compatible with WordPerfect Presentations and
  40. WordPerfect Office 4.0 for OS/2 that are scheduled for release in 1993.

  42.       Our users are implementing OS/2 and need applications today, said Rich Running,
  43. director of WordPerfect for OS/2 marketing at WordPerfect Corporation. We want to help
  44. them make a smooth transition to WordPerfect for OS/2 without sacrificing file compatibility
  45. or making a major investment in training.

  47.       WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 will contain the features of WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows
  48. including the Button Bar, Ruler, the QuickFinder for indexing and text retrieval, and the
  49. QuickMenu to quickly select Button Bars.

  51.       This is the first phase of our OS/2 word processing strategy, said Dave Moon, vice
  52. president of development at WordPerfect Corporation. We are developing WordPerfect 6.0
  53. for OS/2 that will be a 32-bit, multi-threaded product that integrates well with the WorkPlace
  54. Shell.

  56.       WordPerfect 5.2 for Windows will be on display in WordPerfect Corporations booth
  57. #730 at the Window & OS/2 Conference this week at the San Jose Convention Center.
