- I am an IBMer and I have been working on OS/2 and some of it's extensions
- (LAN Server) for the past 3.5 years. ALSO, I AM NOT AN OFFICIAL
- SPOKESPERSON FOR IBM AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL BE. WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SAY
- ARE MY OPINIONS ONLY. The only reason I will respond to this post
- is that someone asked for IBMers to reply. I want you all to know
- that some of us are connected to the outside world. I also want to say
- that I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY IBM OS/2 MARKETING OR ACCOUNTING TEAM
- AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW PRICES/POLICIES FOR OS/2 ARE SET.
-
- I would not be suprised if IBM would start charging and upgrde fee for
- major (new function) releases, and also charge a fee to cover the cost
- of materials on interim (bug fix) releases. Up to this point IBM has
- given free upgrades for all releases. Given the state of IBM's balance
- sheet I think that IBM should start charging some cash.
-
- If you have some contstructive criticism please email me at
- gthome@dss1.austin.ibm.com and I will attempt to forward your ideas to the
- approriate folks inside IBM. This was not intended to start a flame war.
- And again, THESE ARE MY OPINIONS ONLY!!! Sorry for SCREAMING at all of you,
- but I felt it was necessary.
