- I just went through a long session of comm port usage discussions.
- First of all you need to establish that your computer has comm ports
- actually available. I thought mine did as I only had a mouse installed
- but I found out I actually had to disable comm2 on my serail card
- using the jumper settings called out for the board. If the serial
- card has comm2 enabled your modem cannot access it and will hang.
- As far as using comm3 goes, most systems have comm1&3 sharing the same
- IRQ's and comm2&4 also. If your mouse is on comm1 and your modem on
- comm3 you are probably barfing the IRQ's. Move your mouse to comm2
- or put modem on comm4 if you can and this should fix the problem.
- Also, when you set terminal settings you should also save settings to
- preserve whatever changes you made. Hope this helps. If not E-mail me
- and I'll try to help. Lastly, look at comp.dcom.modems for many replies
- to my own questions.
