  13. I have a Gateway 486DX2-66V connected to an Epson LQ800
  14. printer.  My problem is that I cannot use the LPT1 option
  15. in Windows (it prints garbage when I try it) and so I have
  16. to use the LPT1.DOS option.  The printer works fine with
  17. all DOS and OS/2 applications that I have tried.

  19. The Windows manual does not give an adequate explanation
  20. of just what the difference is between LPT1 and LPT1.DOS.
  21. My guess is that the "DOS" version uses BIOS and the normal
  22. one does not.  My system's performance while printing is
  23. pathetic and I would like to alleviate the problem.
