- I would love to hear from any individual who has
- direct expierence with communications beyond 19.6Kbs
- DTE speed under Windows 3.1.
-
- Is it possible? (Without having to move to a faster
- machine?) Do the standard Windows comm drivers
- have to be replaced? Does running a fossil beneath
- (before loading) Windows 3.1 work?
-
- I have procomm plus for Windows and I lose bits when
- my DTE speed is set at any speed beyond 19.6K and
- I've got a DOS Window open with disk or heavy CPU
- activity. I'd like to get my favorite DOS based comm
- pgm. working to. This is on a 386DX/33Mhz.
-
- Why do I need to go beyond 19.6K you ask? Because
- I have a Telebit T3000 modem which has a raw potential
- serial data rate of 22Kps. With compression this goes
- even higher. Several numbers I call locally support
- this modem and data rate.
-
-
- An aside for the curious but communications
- beginner:
-
- Windows 3.1 works just fine at 19.6Kps. I
- can be downloading at 14.4Kps (V32bis) and
- have a couple DOS windows open and active
- (hard disk activity) and not lose a single
- bit. (Machine is a 386DX running at 33Mhz
- with a NS16550AN UART chip installed.)
