  12. I would love to hear from any individual who has
  13. direct expierence with communications beyond 19.6Kbs
  14. DTE speed under Windows 3.1.

  16. Is it possible?  (Without having to move to a faster
  17. machine?)  Do the standard Windows comm drivers
  18. have to be replaced?  Does running a fossil beneath
  19. (before loading) Windows 3.1 work?

  21. I have procomm plus for Windows and I lose bits when
  22. my DTE speed is set at any speed beyond 19.6K and 
  23. I've got a DOS Window open with disk or heavy CPU
  24. activity.  I'd like to get my favorite DOS based comm
  25. pgm. working to.  This is on a 386DX/33Mhz.

  27. Why do I need to go beyond 19.6K you ask?  Because
  28. I have a Telebit T3000 modem which has a raw potential
  29. serial data rate of 22Kps.  With compression this goes
  30. even higher.  Several numbers I call locally support 
  31. this modem and data rate.

  34.   An aside for the curious but communications 
  35.   beginner:

  37.     Windows 3.1 works just fine at 19.6Kps.  I
  38.     can be downloading at 14.4Kps (V32bis) and 
  39.     have a couple DOS windows open and active
  40.     (hard disk activity) and not lose a single 
  41.     bit.  (Machine is a 386DX running at 33Mhz
  42.     with a NS16550AN UART chip installed.)
