  12. I have a machine which uses 16550 UARTs.  I am attempting to determine
  13. how the FIFOs work with Windows.  Primarily, I am attempting to
  14. determine how Windows detects the presence of the 16550.  I have
  15. "COM1FIFO=On" set in my SYSTEM.INI file.  However, the FIFOs do not
  16. appear to be being utilized.  How can I tell if they are being used?

  20. 1) Bring up debug and turn on the FIFOs
  21. 2) Startup Windows
  22. 3) Use debug to check; the register indicates that FIFOs are off
  23. 4) Exit Windows
  24. 5) Use debug to check; the register indicates that FIFOs are on
  25.  
  26. Is Windows virtualization getting in my way?
