- P(>A friend of mine with no Net access asked me about a problem with
- P(>Excel 4.0 to which I have no answer since i'm not a windows techie:
- P(> Quite often when he tries to do a print preview of a multi-page
- P(>worksheet containing some diagrams, he gets an "out of memory"
- P(>message (it is German "Ungenugender Speicherplatz) when he wants
- P(>to look at another page. It is really annoying, because after the
- P(>first time he asked me I just told him to get more memory. He
- P(>now has 8 MB of RAM in a 386DX, 40Mhz, running windows 3.1 with
- P(>Excel as the sole application. System resources are usu 75% free
- P(>when the error occurs, there is also more than 12 MB free on disk.
- P(> The thing that really gets me is that the d*mn error message
- P(>doesn't even say what kind of memory is affected, ie if disk, RAM or
- P(>system resources.
- P(> Did anybody make the same sort of experiences with Excel? Are
- P(>there some settings to be adjusted (I know that on the macintosh
- P(>you can alter the size of a memory partition)?
- P(>
- P(>Any kind of help is appreciated.

- I encountered this problem also but only when trying to plot to a HP
- plotter. I don't recall the exact solution but it was some setting in the
- printer setup which had to be turned off. This may or may not be relevant
- in your situation. Sorry can't be more precise but I don't have that
- plotter now nor that driver loaded.
