- A friend of mine with no Net access asked me about a problem with
- Excel 4.0 to which I have no answer since i'm not a windows techie:
- Quite often when he tries to do a print preview of a multi-page
- worksheet containing some diagrams, he gets an "out of memory"
- message (it is German "Ungenugender Speicherplatz) when he wants
- to look at another page. It is really annoying, because after the
- first time he asked me I just told him to get more memory. He
- now has 8 MB of RAM in a 386DX, 40Mhz, running windows 3.1 with
- Excel as the sole application. System resources are usu 75% free
- when the error occurs, there is also more than 12 MB free on disk.
- The thing that really gets me is that the d*mn error message
- doesn't even say what kind of memory is affected, ie if disk, RAM or
- system resources.
- Did anybody make the same sort of experiences with Excel? Are
- there some settings to be adjusted (I know that on the macintosh
- you can alter the size of a memory partition)?
-
- Any kind of help is appreciated.
