- Yes, it CAN.
-
- on cica, fflw10.zip does this. However, the only problem that I had
- with it was that you then MUST click on the title bar to make the app
- the TOP window. This is a nuisance when you are used to clicking
- anywhere.
-
- raise110.zip has an autoraise feature, but then everything is raised no
- matter what (windows, that is, but not icons (this can be set)).
-
-
- The biggest problem with these two programs comes from the fact that PC
- monitors are usually about 14". Even at 1024x768, the program windows
- take up most of the space on the desktop (for things like Word, Excel,
- etc) and so there is little use for an active background window. X, on
- the other hand, uses small fonts and a BIG (17 or 21", most commonly)
- display so it is nice to have an auto-focus or autoraise facility. X
- also allows users to specify *which* windows they want to autoraise and
- which they don't; you can't do that with raise110, unfortunately.
-
-
- My Solution: Just use <ALT-TAB>, it is usually faster and simpler. If
- you have to have an autoraise/autofocus feature, then buy a BIG monitor
- and get hi res (1280x1024) and then use these utils. Or buy a
- workstation that has the real version of MIT Xwindows.
-
-
- Just some thoughts.
