  22. Yes, it CAN.

  24. on cica, fflw10.zip does this.  However, the only problem that I had
  25. with it was that you then MUST click on the title bar to make the app
  26. the TOP window.  This is a nuisance when you are used to clicking
  27. anywhere.

  29. raise110.zip has an autoraise feature, but then everything is raised no
  30. matter what (windows, that is, but not icons (this can be set)).

  33. The biggest problem with these two programs comes from the fact that PC
  34. monitors are usually about 14".  Even at 1024x768, the program windows
  35. take up most of the space on the desktop (for things like Word, Excel,
  36. etc) and so there is little use for an active background window.  X, on
  37. the other hand, uses small fonts and a BIG (17 or 21", most commonly)
  38. display so it is nice to have an auto-focus or autoraise facility.  X
  39. also allows users to specify *which* windows they want to autoraise and
  40. which they don't; you can't do that with raise110, unfortunately.

  43. My Solution:   Just use <ALT-TAB>, it is usually faster and simpler.  If
  44. you have to have an autoraise/autofocus feature, then buy a BIG monitor
  45. and get hi res (1280x1024) and then use these utils.  Or buy a
  46. workstation that has the real version of MIT Xwindows.
