- I just (today) bought a new FAX/modem.
-
- Computer Peripherals' ViVa 2442ef.
- 2400 baud, v.42bis, MNP5 modem
- 9600 baud Class 2 fax
-
- It came with WinFax Lite (Winfax 2.0) but I haven't had a chance to
- test the FAX yet.
-
- Questions for those in the know (since I am new to the compression and
- FAX thing):
-
- 1) The modem negotiated a connection of 19,200 baud; however,
- the text still scrolls at the same rate, file transfers still go at the
- same speed (~230cps - for both compressed and uncompressed files). What
- is the advantage of a v.42bis or MNP5 connection??? I don't see it.
-
- 2) What does 'Class 2' mean about the FAX ???
-
-
- Thanks for any help...
