- Hello all,
- I don't really know if this is where to ask this, as I usually read and use
- Windows apps only, but I'll take the plunge. I just put together a computer
- father, nothin fancy (286-12), but not using Windows on this beast, we picked
- up a used copy of Microsoft Word v 5.5 (price was right). The only problem,
- was the original owner installed from original disks without making a backup,
- and his name is plastered on the opening screen. I looked at the disks dirs,
- and found on disk 1 "Word55.inf" which might hold this info, and also on disk
- 3 "setup.ini" which has a different date (more recent), like maybe when it was
- originally installed. Might anyone have any idea of how to change these files
- to change the owners name? I know such files exist for 123, and older versions
- of Word, but have not seen anything on boards for recent versions. I suppose
- there is always the possibility of getting a new replacement disk from Micro-
- soft through disk replacement(showing transfer of course).
- Thanks
- Chris Reid
