-
- From everything I've seen/read/heard (Including another comment or two
- here on this echo, plus the OS/2 and Windows NT echos on FIDO, and on
- bix) Microsoft still holds the technical details under their (C) for the
-
- HPFS stuff. Specifically, IBM "owns" the code for OS/2, but MS still
- owns the formats for the data structures and stuff. I may be wrong on
- my
- language, but I'm quite certain of the general idea.
-
- In any case, I'm sure it *is* confidential, merely because of the number
-
- of comments I've read about "Who has source for HPFS" and the number of
-
- comments saying "IBM and Microsoft." Perhaps all those other companies
-
- have licensed source from IBM/MS in regards to HPFS, but it is not
- generally available for hackers to play with.
-
- (And, no flame intended, I will continue to believe that until you show
-
- me a publication that specifies the HPFS format fully and completely.)
