  14.     Greetings. Two things:

  16.     1) I wouldn't mind drilling a small hole in the face-plate of
  17.     my floppy drive and putting in a LED that the kernel would
  18.     somehow flash... I've done similiar things in the past (NMI
  19.     would be pulse-stretched and the "Turbo" LED would blink :-)
  20.     So, anyone know any place (hardware connection) that the
  21.     kernel could blink? (maybe on the drive cable itself?)

  23.     2) I replied to someone but neither of us knows if this is
  24.     possible: Since we're only interested in allerting the user
  25.     to the fact that there is a disk in the drive (and we don't
  26.     have to be reading it all the time) how about reading it
  27.     every .5 second for .25 seconds? It would get the LED going
  28.     but I don't think that the drive would have a chance to make
  29.     any revolutions... BTW, blinking lights attract MUCH better
  30.     than continously lit ones :-)

  34.     P.S. Life sucks: I install the "current" version of Linux,
  35.     get a few days to fine-tune it and have to get back to
  36.     Real Life(tm)... then, come back and see that you folks
  37.     are 2 levels ahead and have to reinstall... arghh! Yup, it's
  38.     that time again: got 98.5 and 99.3 is out [sound of head exploding]
