  16. some strange things happended to my system. In the evenening I polled
  17. as usual. The next time in the morning the core dumped!
  18.  
  19. After taking a look at the system I found out:
  20.  
  21. - On a lot of files and directories the owner information was gone!
  22. - the /etc/passwd file contained two blank lines
  23. - all uucp related files and directories had a new owner
  24.   (one of the users of my system)

  26. Big surprise :-((

  28. After removing the blank lines and the user whon now owned all uucp
  29. files and shutting down, rebooting everything was ok again.
  30.  
  31. Has this happend to anyone else?? I'd like to know what was going
  32. on....
