- : : : then leave the port disabled. Whatevere I try, I always get the port

- : : : Anybody have any ideas?

- : AND, I've never had this problem. Wonder what I did right?
-
- : Ah, I just took a quick peek at my /etc/ttys file, and saw that the

- : something to do with it?
-
- This has everything to do with it :) If it's not in /etc/ttys, init
- doesn't spawn a getty for it.
-
- The basic fact is that if it's in getty, one would expect that it
- should be able to receive logons. However, in many cases (like mine)
- that's not always true. I want it to accept logins sometimes, and
- other times not. Like if I'm at school, I like having the modem pick
- up, but when I'm at home, sometimes I'm expecting a call.
-
- So I guess what MWC did was logical in one way, but not very flexible
- the other way.
