- Really? I use Ckermit all the time with an RS6000 at school. I've never
- had any problems, and I set the packet size to 4096 at 9600bps and I'm
- running at 7E1 (the darn modems are shared with the mainframe that likes
- older style connections).
-
- Maybe your com ports are set up wrong or something? Or are you running
- out of memory? That could do it too. If Ckermit decides to allocate
- buffers *after* a transfer starts, there might be enough memory to run
- it, but not do a transfer.
-
- I remember some memory problems with Ckermit if news was being unspooled
- while I had it running. It seems when you are on-line Ckermit takes up
- more memory than if you are in "command mode". I had 2 megs of memory
- at the time. With 8 megs now I don't have that problem.
-
- Try running it in multi-user mode, but with only one login (the one
- using Ckermit) going, and as few other processes as possible. I bet
- it's a memory problem (i.e., you don't have enough).
