- Hi, sorry for the newbie question, but I was wondering how useful the Gravis
- Ultrasound is for use in a PC-based MIDI setup. I was thinking of getting
- a very basic MIDI keyboard controller (hopefully velocity/pressure sensitive)
- and using the GUS both as a MIDI interface and a sound source. Mainly, my
- questions is: how versatile is the GUS as a wavetable synth? Can it be used
- satisfactorily in a velocity-sensitve setup? Are there any limitations I shoul
- know about? Are patches for it readily-available?
-
- The reason I am interested in this setup is that I am $$-constrained. :(
- Also, this would be a starter system, so I wouldn't want to splurge on a
- good synth right away. I *do*, however, want something that can reasonably
- simulate playing a real piano.
-
- Any e-mail advice would be greatly appreciated.
