  20. I have a different angle on this than you do.  As an unfunded
  21. undergraduate CS student, benchmarks are measured in units of money,
  22. not time.  And according to *my* test suite, Gnu Smalltalk blows the
  23. others away, to the tune of multiple hundreds of hard-earned dollars.

  25. So is this the old "you get what you pay for" cliche?  Perhaps.  All I
  26. know is Gnu Smalltalk works, and if I run out to get a copy with two
  27. pennies in my pocket, I've still got a Lincoln duet when I'm done.

  29. Commercial Smalltalk implementations are thirty times faster?  Cool.
