  24. A number of people pointed out that an "end" statement after the above 
  25. commands may help.  Thanks to all who replied.  As it turns out I will
  26. probably never know for sure.  As Leif Arne Neset pointed out, evidently 
  27. both pages of a duplex page must be in memory before the sheet can be 
  28. printed.  Upon closer examination of the HP documentation I found a table
  29. which stated that duplex printing *requires* 4MB of additional add in memory.
  30. Alas, we only have 2 MB in this printer.  Rather than print them out in
  31. in non-duplex, it just pukes on the whole print job.  Lots of pretty blinking
  32. lights but that's about it.
