- ]I would like to use more/different fonts than those supplied with the
- ]Ghostscript 2.52 distribution. Can I do this?? If so, how?
- ]
- ]1. I read somewhere that putting a command similar to
- ] (c:\\psfonts\\fontfile) run
- ]at the start of my ghostscript file will load a font stored in "fontfile".
- ]Is this correct ?
- ]
- ]2. I presume that I should purchase "Adobe Type 1" fonts?
- ]
- ]3. Do I have to fiddle with the Fontmap file that comes with Ghostscript,
- ] and if so, do I have to recompile Ghostscript (I don't have the source)?
- ]
- ]4. Is there anything else that I should know about doing this?
-
- I don't know about question 1.
-
- For the rest... yes, you can use Adobe type 1 fonts with GhostScript. All you
- have to do is load the FONTMAP file into a text editor. Put that actual font
- name on the left (you can get this info by peeking at the AFM file) and then
- put the corresponding filename (the way it appears on the disc) in parantheses
- on the right. Just study the way the rest of the file list the fonts and
- follow the format. If you purchase Adobe versions of Times, Helv, or other
- fonts that have GS equivalents, simply replace the filename in parantheses with
- the new one.
-
- You don't have to recompile.
-
- Well, this is true at least for my version of GhostScript. The source code has
- been adapted to many platforms, so what I say might now apply to you.
