  15. Here is the scenario:
  16. I have a Macintosh.  I would like to print files to the Postscript
  17. laser printer (HP Laserjet III with PS card) via a VAX.
  18.  
  19. Convoluted - yes, but that's what you get when you are too cheap to buy
  20. a laser printer or pay almost a buck a page (vs. $0.10 on this printer) :^).

  22. What I have been doing:
  23. 1.  Print to a postscript file using the Laserwriter driver (vers. 7.0)
  24.     Note:  I used Trimmer to supress including Truetype fonts and the 
  25.     Apple Laser Prep dictionary.
  26. 2.  Transfer the file to a VAX.  Verify the file is intact.
  27. 3.  Print to the printer using the Postscript form (required by local
  28.     instructions).
  29. 4.  Watch nothing except a cover sheet come out.

  31. Does someone know a better way?  Specifically, will including the Apple
  32. Laser Prep or Truetype fonts disturb the printer in any way for the
  33. next customer (the printer is used by VAX, Convex, and Novell/IBM
  34. users).  I'm not going to try unless I know it won't.

  36. Note - I am asking local advice on this also, but it is slow in coming.

  39. Mac:  System 7, MS-Word 4.0, Trimmer1.0.1
  40. VAX:  Vax 8800, VMS 5.3
  41. Novell (sits between VAX & Printer): 3.1 (I think)
  42. Printer: Laserjet III with Postscript package
  43.
