  11. I am using Borland Pascal 7.0 with its protected mode IDE. I have
  12. encountered a problem when scrolling through text in the IDE editor
  13. window. The problem occurs when I continuosly hold down the up-arrow or
  14. down-arrow keys. I find that the characters "8" and "2" will get
  15. dropped in regions where the cursor has been.

  17. As you can see, this is quite annoying, and requires editing
  18. corrections to be made before you can compile. I was wondering whether
  19. it is a common problem. I have a Microsoft mouse and the driver is the
  20. one that came with Windows 3.1, so it is fairly recent.

  22. Another interesting quirk of BP 7.0 is that the block selection mode
  23. seems to be activated of its own accord when I am scrolling through
  24. a text file. This is also annoying, and sometimes it is difficult
  25. to switch off and resume the normal editing mode. Pressing the 
  26. shift key on its own seems to make it easier to get back to the normal
  27. editing mode.

  29. I should mention that I have syntax highlighting active. As yet, I
  30. have not worked with it deactivated.

  32. Any suggestions as to how to fix these problems would be greatly
  33. appreciated.
