- This is not a technical question, just one of history.
- Does anyone know how B. Kernighan and D. Ritchie pronounce the
- keyword 'char'?

- Some (myself included) pronounce it like a shortened verion of
- the data type it stands for; that is, CHARacter.

- Others pronounce it similar to CHARcoal.
