- Dear Collegues!
-
- I am a new, but nevertheless enthusiastic user of gopher. I am
- using gopher to distribute my
-
- "ifo"
-
- giving informations on awards, fellowships, prizes and other
- research funding possibilities.
-
- This distribution is primarily intended for the University of
- Giessen. Many other German universities also evaluate the
- information contained in ifo.
-
- There is a beginning cooperation with some EC-Universities also.
-
- Looking for more information from abroad I browsed through the
- gopher menues. I found at the Sunic - Gopher a hint for a subject
- tree but this tree includs, so fas as I realise, till now no
- subjects of interest to me. The other possibility, to ask for
- interesting subjects, Veronica, resulted, e. g. asking for awards,
- in hundreds of hints also unusable.
-
- On the other hand at North American gophers I found with Veronica
- a lot of hints on NIH, Fedix etc., but it seems to me that these
- entries are more occasionally than systematically. Recently I
- detected that the NIH Guides are provided from the ORTTA Gopher/U.
- Wisconsin, these people are discussing a "gopherized guide
- version" with NIH.
-
- So I ask you for help: Do there exist any systematics on my above
- described field of interest, concerning "ifo"?
-
- If not, who is interested to cooperate to create one?
-
- I am thinking on a scheme, maybe subject tree: who is referring on
- what and which is the latest entry?
-
- I think it will not be necessary to have (e. g. the full NIH or
- Fedix) programmes on more than one gopher but it is necessary that
- everybody is able to know that they are existing and where.
-
- For Germany there are till now so far as I know, two systems on
- gopher:
-
- - ifo Giessen at the gopher of Justus Liebig University of Giessen
- gopher.uni-giessen.de 70 (see entry ifo)
-
- - IFF Paderborn at the gopher of ASK Karlsruhe.
- 192.67.194.33 70 (see entry IFF)
-
- Both are giving informations on nearly all reachable funding
- possibilities of Germany including the latest EC-Programmes. And
- we are working on giving more detailed informations of the big
- German funding organisations as DFG, VW-Stiftung, DAAD on gopher -
- though this will need a lot of time.
-
- Hoping to hear from you,
-
- yours Ulrich Duerr
