  24. I am a new, but nevertheless enthusiastic user of gopher. I am
  25. using gopher to distribute my
  26.  
  27.                               "ifo"
  28.  
  29.    giving informations on awards, fellowships, prizes and other
  30.                  research funding possibilities.
  31.  
  32. This distribution is primarily intended for the University of
  33. Giessen. Many other German universities also evaluate the
  34. information contained in ifo.
  35.  
  36. There is a beginning cooperation with some EC-Universities also.
  37.  
  38. Looking for more information from abroad I browsed through the
  39. gopher menues. I found at the Sunic - Gopher a hint for a subject
  40. tree but this tree includs, so fas as I realise, till now no
  41. subjects of interest to me. The other possibility, to ask for
  42. interesting subjects, Veronica, resulted, e. g. asking for awards,
  43. in hundreds of hints also unusable.

  45. On the other hand at North American gophers I found with Veronica
  46. a lot of hints on NIH, Fedix etc., but it seems to me that these
  47. entries are more occasionally than systematically. Recently I
  48. detected that the NIH Guides are provided from the ORTTA Gopher/U.
  49. Wisconsin, these people are discussing a "gopherized guide
  50. version" with NIH.

  52. So I ask you for help: Do there exist any systematics on my above
  53. described field of interest, concerning "ifo"?

  55. If not, who is interested to cooperate to create one?

  57. I am thinking on a scheme, maybe subject tree: who is referring on
  58. what and which is the latest entry?
  59.  
  60. I think it will not be necessary to have (e. g. the full NIH or
  61. Fedix) programmes on more than one gopher but it is necessary that
  62. everybody is able to know that they are existing and where.
  63.  
  64. For Germany there are till now so far as I know, two systems on
  65. gopher:

  67. - ifo Giessen at the gopher of Justus Liebig University of Giessen
  68.   gopher.uni-giessen.de 70 (see entry ifo)
  69.  
  70. - IFF Paderborn at the gopher of ASK Karlsruhe.
  71.   192.67.194.33 70 (see entry IFF)
  72.  
  73. Both are giving informations on nearly all reachable funding
  74. possibilities of Germany including the latest EC-Programmes. And
  75. we are working on giving more detailed informations of the big
  76. German funding organisations as DFG, VW-Stiftung, DAAD on gopher -
  77. though this will need a lot of time.
