  17. At January 22nd, 1993, the IFUS (Institute of Environmental Information
  18. Systems and Cartographical Application of Remote Sensing) has been opened
  19. in Berlin-Adlershof, Germany.
  20.  
  21. IFUS is a consortium like "GmbH" connection with TFH Berlin and cooperating
  22. with FU Berlin, TU Berlin, MLUni Halle, Geosystems Munich, Space Institute
  23. Berlin and GTZ Eschborn.
  24.  
  25. IFUS aims to develope strategic applications of Environmental Information
  26. Systems in Germany, eastern Europe and for the developing countries.
  27. 3 projects are currently under development:
  28. - geoscientific mapping of aride/semiaride areas
  29. - development of settlement in Sudan (Darfur)
  30. - environmental info system of region Halle-Merseburg-Bitterfeld
  31. which are sponsored by DFG and BMFT (Germany).
