- In response to problems with the Tosca digitizer, a few clarifications
- may be in order.
- I have not tested Tosca on a network, and as you are probably aware,
- it uses an overlay file; it does not surprise me that errors come out of
- the network since there may be problems in references to memory locations
- which are generated: do addresses refer to memory in the host computer or
- the node?
- When you begin digitizing, Tosca creates a new array to store control
- points in the heap; the 'not enough memory' error may mean that at the
- time you began digitizing, another application had used up too much of
- the host. Since Tosca frequently creates and disposes of arrays in the
- heap memory area, I would be wary of the use of TSR's or its application
- on a network; as I mentioned, I just have not looked into this, so I can
- only guess at the moment.
- You mention getting 'booted out' of digitize mode; on very fast systems
- (i.e. 486's) we have had problems distinguishing between individual mouse
- clicks. Are you digitizing in 'continuous' mode, and exiting by having
- your machine pick up two successive termination clicks from the digitizing
- puck?
- Send information about your Tosca version, and your hardware, and I
- will try to make more sense of this.
- Jeff Jones.
