- "Compose" nothing unless you have no other option. If you are making a followup
- (and you are now reading GIS-L), use the reply command in your mail software.
- This should automatically prepend "Re: " to the subject line. If it doesn't,
- have your system administrator fix this.
-
- This makes it much easier for those of us (who are now reading
- comp.infosystems.gis) to follow a thread. It also makes it easier to KILL
- messages that are of no interest. E.g., my kill file looks something like
- this:
- /MHS NonDelivery Report/:j
- /MHS Nondelivery Report.s/:j
- /Spatiotemporal Database /:j
- /Spatiotemporal Bibliogra/:j
-
- Also, could someone please, please, PLEASE fix the software that is
- used to gateway GIS-L to comp.infosystems.gis? Particularly, remove the five
- spaces that are prepended to subject lines originating from a GIS-L
- poster.

- For some reason, this software wants to justify things coming from GIS-L
- with a certain column. This is very annoying. The problem is compounded when
- someone reading news posts a followup a GIS-L posting... the subject becomes:
- "Subject: Re: Re: Mail vs Posting"
