- I am just beginning to explore the vast world of DEM data.
- I've already found out about DEM files, and where I can get them
- (either directly from USGS, or on spectrum.xerox.com in /pub/map/dem),
- but still have other basic questions (FAQ?):
-
- What are the formats (in widespread use) for 3D data? DEM, any others?
- Where do I get documentation on these formats if I want to write my own
- programs to process them?
- What utilities (commercial, public-domain, shareware, copyleft) are available
- (for any type of hardware), if I choose not to write my own programs to
- process these data files? I've found VistaPro for PC's, but it only reads
- data in it's own proprietary DEM format.
