- For counting/sizing pebbles in pictures of river beds I would
- suggest you look into morphological techniques. They have been
- used to solve a wide range of similar problems. One reference
- is Image analysis and mathematical morphology by J Serra.
- There was a special issue of Computer Vision Graphics and Image
- Processing some years back, Vol 35 page 279 onwards. 1986.
