  12.                      An Introductory Course to AVS
  13.                      =============================

  15.     There will be an one day introductory  course to AVS held at the
  16.     University of Manchester on Wednesday 12th May 1993.  It will be
  17.     aimed at the user with little or no experience of AVS and includes
  18.     the following topics:
  19.  
  20.        o Importing data into AVS
  21.  
  22.        o Building and using networks in AVS
  23.  
  24.        o Customising AVS
  25.  
  26.     The course will not include more advanced topics such as module
  27.     writing but these will be covered in an advanced course.  The
  28.     introductory course will however provide a user with the
  29.     necessary AVS pre-requisites to attend the advanced course. 
  30.  
  31.     The course is open to all UK academics and no charge will be made.
  32.     It will start at 9.30 and finish at about 4.30 with the local
  33.     arrangements and travel information being forwarded to each attendee
  34.     nearer the date.
  35.  
  36.     As the course will involve practical sessions using AVS throughout
  37.     the day the number of attendees will be limited and places allocated
  38.     on a first come first served basis.
