- In my wrath and ire over demacs I did not make myself very clear. I make
- extensive use of sub-directory structures (some would say that my directory
- trees are TOO bushy). Those sub-directories used regularly have either a
- logical name (under VMS) or environment variables (Unix or MS-DOS)
- ``pointing'' at them. What I mean by "I keep my working directory as..." is
- that (except in rare cases) I never use SET DEFAULT (on VMS) or cd (on Unix
- or MS-DOS). This means that I also never use the inverse of these
- commands, namely SHOW DEFAULT or pwd, because I always know where I am.
- Those rare cases are when using tools written by people who insists that I
- follow their working practices rather than letting me retain mine---rather
- like a toolsmith insisting that screws are put in with hammers, craving is
- done with a screw driver and opening a door lock is done with a chisel.

- The PC is mine! I paid for it. I use Unix under sufferance---I'm paid too.
- I prefer VMS because...I wont say any more as this is not a .flames group.
-
- I would have liked to use emacs on ALL these platforms becuase of elisp.
- Some people have suggested that I switch to vi but that doesn't have a
- programming language available. At least TPU exists under VMS.
-
- Oh yes, there is one other reason why demacs wont last long on MY PC it
- does run under Microsoft Windows 3.1 in enchanced mode, again the use of
- Windows is MY choice for which I have VERY good reasons.
-
- Regards, Trevor.
