- Actually, there is no such thing as "straight IP" - you always use some sort
- of data link layer. In this case, it could be PPP, HDLC, LAPB and probably
- frame relay (I am not sure when frame relay can be used). HDLC is usually
- a better choice than PPP. LAPB is used for X.25 networks.
