- Ummmm, I agree this is a problem, but I don't think it has much to do with
- Silent Answer. Silent Answer is where the Supra picks up the phone (kinda)
- when your answering machine does, and listens for Fax tones. If it hears them,
- it fully goes off-hook and into fax reception mode. This should make most
- answering machines stop (they assume that a human must have picked up, and
- should shut themselves off). I believe it also sends a few fake RINGs to the
- Fax software, and then gives a fax connection message.

- Serial port arbitration comes in when you've set +FAA=1, so that the modem
- will answer as either a fax or a modem, and will return the appropriate code
- depending on what connection was established. At this point, it's quite
- difficult for the program that currently controls the serial port to pass it
- off to another program.

- There's a demo copy of LineShare on sumex-aim.stanford.edu, which reportedly
- will handle this for you (arbitrating who gets the call...). I haven't had
- a chance to try it out, only having one line untill I move to a new apartment.
