- I'm using an EverFax 24/96E (supposedly the newer model compatible with
- the already-discontinued D version), and in particular, the ati commands
- reports the followings:
-
- ati4 --> EV967-02
- ati5 --> MNP CLASS 5 FAX 24/96
- ati7 --> 911027
-
- And I'm driving it with fax-3.2.1 (gnu-make'ed okay) and ghostscript-2.5.2
- (with "DEVICE_DEVS=dfaxhigh.dev dfaxlow.dev" compiled in), on both a
- SparcStation 1+ and a SparcSystem 330 running SunOS 4.1.2.
-
- Now, the problem is, having had the faxspooler started by cron and
- when I submit a faxps job, the EverFax dialed out to the fax machine,
- but cannot get past the negotiation stage; eventually faxspooler timed
- out, with a syslog entry of read time out (which traces to being
- triggered by an EINTR signal). I've tested it with 5 or 6 different
- brands of fax machines... but still the same timeout problem prevails.
-
- The question being, do I need do any patching on the netfax source
- to use the 24/96E with EV967-02 prom? Any suggestions?
-
- I've also tried the same package with the sunos-&-xyzel patch
- with a xyzel modem, and, instead of timing out, it just got
- hanged forever.
-
- Anyone had similar experience? Would appreciate some hints
- to get it going...
-
- Best regards,
- Aaron Cheung, Hong Kong.
