  30. The conference provides an international forum for presentation and
  31. discussion of research on information and knowledge management, as well as
  32. recent advances on data and knowledge bases. Authors are invited to submit
  33. papers, proposals for tutorials and proposals for exhibits concerned with
  34. theory or practice or both. The focus of the conference includes, but is not
  35. limited to, the following: Application of knowledge representation techniques
  36. to semantic data modeling; development and management of heterogeneous
  37. knowledge bases; automatic acquisition of data and knowledge bases especially
  38. from raw text; object-oriented DBMS; optimization techniques; transaction
  39. management; high performance OLTP systems; security techniques; performance
  40. evaluation; hypermedia; unconventional applications; parallel database
  41. systems; physical and logical database design; data and knowledge sharing;
  42. interchange and interoperability; cooperation in heterogeneous systems; domain
  43. modeling and ontology-building; knowledge discovery in databases; information
  44. storage and retrieval, information filtering and interface technology.

  46. INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

  48. All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter containing a list of
  49. all authors, their affiliations, telephone numbers, electronic mail
  50. addresses, and fax telephone numbers. Papers should be at most 20 double
  51. spaced pages and must include an abstract of 100-150 words with five
  52. keywords. All submissions will be reviewed and will be judged with respect
  53. to quality and relevance.  Authors must submit 7 copies of each paper,
  54. tutorial or exhibit proposal to the program chairman:

  67. STUDENT PAPER AWARD

  69.   The author of the best student paper will receive an award for his/her
  70.   submission.  To be eligible, the student must be the first author and
  71.   primary contributor to the paper.  The cover letter must identify the paper
  72.   as a candidate for this competition.
