  19. 1. "bold face, underlined, italic" is NOT plain text. I seriously
  20. doubt that the escape sequences involved will be of any value
  21. displayed inside an APT window.

  23. 2. I think that you would be better off using a system call to either: 
  24.     a:invoke WordPerfect on the file ( if you have (unixWP)
  25.     b:run more on mantained ascii versions of the files (in lieu
  26.     of placing them in the database)
